the process for families to register for an au pair

NanniesandChildcare is the agency that supplies with au pairs and other childcare. The agency has been set up because we understand how difficult it is to look for the right childcare, for your most precious posessions. We know how very stressful it is every time a girl tells you that she is leaving the family. Or how daunting it might be when you have your first au pair. Relax you have come to the right place.

Once you get in touch with us we will e-mail you a registration form. Please complete and e-mail us back. We also want from you a letter to the au pair introducing your family to the au pair. We have some sample letters which we can e-mail you, if you wish. The letter should be warm and friendly all about your family, your children, likes and dislikes, AMOUNT OF HOURS NEEDED, the reason for why you need an au pair etc. A picture of your family or pictures of all of you. So that we can e-mail it to the possible au pairs. Please note that the pictures are very important as the girls like to see with whom they are going to live. You would not take an au pair whom you had not seen a picture of. Would you?

All of our au pairs are police checked in their countries of origin, have valid medical certificate, two character references are provided and have as you, written a letter for why they want to come to the UK. Our service for both au pairs and families is ongoing. Your peace of mind is our priority.

If you are a family in need of a fantastic au pair and looking for your very own Mary Poppins for your children to be cared for - we hope you decide to give nannies and childcare a call.

Please read our terms and conditions carefully and feel free to ask for any questions by phone or e-mail. Also think about what you can realistically offer and your expectations. For example if you say 8 am to 3 pm, mean it. If you need your au pair to be flexible then say so too. We have found that the placements that succeed are the ones that are honest from the word go!

The Process

If you want to use our services, we will need to obtain some initial details from you. You can provide these by :

  • filling the registration form and e-mailing it back to us together with a letter to the au pair and the pictures of your family.
  • completing the reference form about your family
  • calling us and providing the information over the phone
  • Letter to the au pair and pictures are a must

Please remember that there is absolutely no charge for registering with us, and that you are under no obligation to use our services. But also we need as much information from you as we can possibly have.

We will then speak with you to ensure that we fully understand your requirements, and provide you with guidance, if needed. Quite often we will have suitable applicants already on our books, and so you can tell us straight away if you would like us to progress with anyone in particular.

If we do not have any suitable applicants to hand, we will begin our search process to match your vacancy.

We will keep in regular contact via e-mail to inform you on progress.

and if you want to progress with one of our applicants...

At this stage, we will contact the applicant to see if the feelings are mutual, and that the applicant would like to pursue your vacancy. Then it is time for you to make the call and see how you feel about her. Depending on the position sought and the background of the applicant, we may have to carry out certain checks before we release an applicant for interviews. We will of course let you know if this relates to an applicant that you are interested in.

We will forward onto you Nannies and Childcare Applicant profile pack for anyone you are interested in, and we will follow up with you to find out who you would like to speak to. Please note, for our applicants living abroad, this would constitute a telephone interview.

Ready to accept someone...

You need to call the office to let us know if you want to offer the au pair you have interviewed the job. We will let her know. Once you accept someone for your vacancy get things in motion quickly. Good au pairs are in demand and if another family offers her the job, then you have lost a good au pair!

When to pay

To secure a placement, we require a 100% of the payment within 4 days of the job offer.
